Meta & Instagram integration
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This page documents the Meta / Facebook Page and Instagram Professional integration used by MotivePulse IQ, a product of Motive Corp. It is intended for customers, Meta reviewers, and business owners who want a clear explanation of the authorization, data use, and disconnect controls.
Current access status
MotivePulse has production Meta OAuth configuration and a working customer connection flow. We do not represent App Review-gated permissions as approved until Meta grants them. Capabilities such as Instagram comment management or content publishing remain disabled unless the relevant permission is approved and explicitly enabled.
What the current integration does
A business owner or authorized administrator may connect a Facebook Page they manage. MotivePulse may then:
- List Pages the authenticated user is authorized to manage.
- Let the user select the exact Page to connect to the workspace.
- Read Page engagement data needed for the connected workflow.
- Read Page ratings / recommendations and display them in the business reputation workspace.
- Detect a linked Instagram Professional account and display a limited business-profile snapshot such as username and basic profile/media metadata.
Permissions used by the core connection
pages_show_list— list Pages the signed-in user manages so they can select the correct business Page.pages_read_engagement— read the Page engagement and metadata required for the connected business workflow.pages_read_user_content— read user-generated Page content such as ratings / recommendations used in the reputation workspace.instagram_basic— read basic metadata for a linked Instagram Professional account.
Permissions we do not silently request
MotivePulse does not add optional higher-privilege permissions merely because Meta makes them available. For example, Instagram comment management remains behind a separate feature gate and is not requested by the core Facebook Page connection unless the permission has first been approved for the app.
MotiveOne / MotiveLocal may later seek separate Meta permissions for merchant-authorized social publishing or advertising workflows. Those use cases are reviewed separately and are not implied by this MotivePulse reputation integration.
Authorization and account selection
The customer initiates the connection from MotivePulse and authenticates directly on Meta's authorization surface. MotivePulse does not ask a customer to provide their Facebook or Instagram password. After OAuth, the customer selects a Page they are authorized to manage. The connection is scoped to the customer's MotivePulse workspace.
How connected data is used
Connected Page and Instagram data is used only to provide the customer-requested product features, such as reputation views, ratings / recommendations, public-voice context, and a linked Instagram Professional snapshot. We do not sell connected Meta data or use it to build advertising audiences.
Data and credential security
Provider credentials are stored server-side and are not returned to the browser after secure storage. Connection state is bound to the customer workspace. Provider secrets and access tokens are not committed to source control or exposed in public logs.
Disconnect and Meta deauthorization
Customers can disconnect the Meta integration in MotivePulse settings. Local connection state is removed from active use. When the customer requests provider-wide deauthorization and a valid Meta user credential is available, MotivePulse calls Meta's deauthorization endpoint and records whether Meta confirmed the revocation.
Data deletion
Customers may request deletion of their account or connected-platform data through support. MotivePulse also implements Meta's signed data-deletion callback. When Meta sends an authenticated deletion request, MotivePulse removes matching Meta connection credentials and imported Facebook recommendation data from active workspaces and returns a confirmation code with a public status URL.
Deletion request status and instructions are available at Meta data deletion. Additional details are available in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Reviewer and demo access
We can provide an isolated reviewer account and test business asset to an authorized Meta reviewer. The review flow demonstrates the same customer-facing OAuth, Page selection, data display, and disconnect controls used by the production application without exposing another customer's data.
